Pitching Mechanics For The Youth, It is vitally important that youth pitchers understand the fundamentals of proper pitching mechanics. Proper mechanics are essential for velocity generation, pitch accuracy, and overall arm health. Unfortunately, many youth pitchers are taught incorrectly at an early age and subsequently end up having arm complication down the road.
Teaching Youth Baseball! Teaching youth baseball is a rewarding experience for both parents and coaches alike. While parents have an obvious investment in the teaching of the fundamentals of the sport of baseball to their children, coaches, make a significant investment of their own in time, effort and emotion. From a personal perspective, one of the greatest rewards is in developing relationships with and positively affecting the lives of individual youth baseball players. The lessons of sports such as in baseball are positive and well documented. For coaches, there are also the internal rewards they get from seeing each player develop and from watching a youth baseball team improve as a group and learn to play together under their coaching tutelage.
What size do I need? Baseball gloves come in many different sizes made to fit different ages, positions and games (softball gloves). For adults in baseball most outfielders use 12” to 13” whereas infielders and pitchers use 10 ” to 12”. Softball players usually use 12” to 14” accommodate the larger ball. Care should be taken when choosing a glove for a youth player. Youths range from 9” to 11”. 8 year olds can often use 11” based on their size. Many teenagers may fit into 12”.
